I’m growing my cukes on a trellis, all natural, no chemicals or fungus, with moerdate rainfall. Why are they curling up instead of growing straight? Plus, they are turning white on the ends. The variety the seeds came from were straight, not curled cukes.

I bought a small plant from Bonnie and it is growing nicely
except I see no signs of flowers or cukes. A lot of “feelers”
and big leaves, but that’s it. Are there male and female
plants, or should I just wait it out?

My cucumber seeds have grown really well and now thinned out or given away most of them. I have 2 growing in pots in the conservatory which are about 4’6″ high and starting to flower. My question is on the seed packet it said that I should remove either the male or female flowers can’t remember as not at home, as pollenated fruits are more bitter but am not sure which flowers are which as they all look the same. Will the plant fruit without pollenation?

Trying to grow cucumbers in the Arizona heat. My plants are large, full of flowers and some cucumbers have begun to form. However, they are starting to turn yellow. They’re about a half an inch long. I feed them twice a week, and keep them well watered and in a sunny location.
WHY? I really want to pickle cucumbers this summer, and I would appreciate any tips you can give me!
Thanks!

My cucumbers are turning orange or almost an old gold color. especially the ones which are in contactwith the ground. I am using grass clippings to keep down the weeds and help retain moisture. Could this be contributing? When I slice open the orange colored cukes they have little flavor or juice.
Thank you for you help

Why are my cucumbers yellow? They get good size, ready for picking but never turn green. This is the second year this has happened and I have not idea why. Any suggestions or comments would be greatly appreciated.

Hi! We are growing Straight 8′s and they taste great, no bitterness or anything like that. Our problem is this, the first round of pickings were great, nice dark green skin, no blemishes, now we are getting a lighter colored green for the cukes and there is brown scaling (hard rough spots or veins) on the cukes. I can peel them, but would rather not. We have had good weather, a bit hot in the mid to upper 90′s, but we have had good rains, they get about an inch a week, clay soil – here in western NC. Any ideas about why we have brown scaly spots on the skins of the plants. The plants themselves look good. Thank you.

I have 8 cucumber plants climbing up and down 5 foot lattice since late june. The leaves just started to turn yellowish. And, half of the cucumbers grow real fat.

What causes the discoloration and fat cucumbers??

How do you store cucumbers, the frig. or counter top? I want to make pickles, but don’t have enough cukes yet, so want to store them the best way. Thanks
